Called To Proclaim Christ
We began with prayer and praise, lifting up Jesus. Elder Lane moved into the opening Scripture, all along continuing to praise our God:
Psalm 117:1-2 "O praise the LORD, all ye nations: praise him, all ye people. 2 For his merciful kindness is great toward us: and the truth of the LORD endureth for ever. Praise ye the LORD.
Eldress Sorrell continued in the Spirit with singing as she stood to teach the Sunday School lesson and we moved from praise into a wonderful time of worship that went forth unto our awesome God.
We went into the lesson Scriptures, here they are below:
Acts 9:10-20 "And there was a certain disciple at Damascus, named Ananias; and to him said the Lord in a vision, Ananias. And he said, Behold, I am here, Lord. 11 And the Lord said unto him, Arise, and go into the street which is called Straight, and enquire in the house of Judas for one called Saul, of Tarsus: for, behold, he prayeth, 12 And hath seen in a vision a man named Ananias coming in, and putting his hand on him, that he might receive his sight. 13 Then Ananias answered, Lord, I have heard by many of this man, how much evil he hath done to thy saints at Jerusalem: 14 And here he hath authority from the chief priests to bind all that call on thy name. 15 But the Lord said unto him, Go thy way: for he is a chosen vessel unto me, to bear my name before the Gentiles, and kings, and the children of Israel:16 For I will shew him how great things he must suffer for my name's sake. 17 And Ananias went his way, and entered into the house; and putting his hands on him said, Brother Saul, the Lord, even Jesus, that appeared unto thee in the way as thou camest, hath sent me, that thou mightest receive thy sight, and be filled with the Holy Ghost. 18 And immediately there fell from his eyes as it had been scales: and he received sight forthwith, and arose, and was baptized. 19 And when he had received meat, he was strengthened. Then was Saul certain days with the disciples which were at Damascus. 20 And straightway he preached Christ in the synagogues, that he is the Son of God."
Eldress Sorrell said, "You have to realize what is going on in your life. You have to know that you are chosen. God did it. It took me a long time to realize this. I am unique and He didn't make a mistake. I am designed by God. He has a reason for me being here. Saul was on his way to persecute God's people and throw them in jail, but on the road, he met Jesus. We must pray to bring people together. We are not here to divide. People look at my actions. I'm called to proclaim Christ. I don't have to decide who to go to, God takes me to them. God spoke to Ananias in a vision and he questioned God (Acts 9:13-14), does this sound like us? God let Ananias know that He had chosen Saul (Acts 9:15). When you are chosen, you have to be careful how you present yourself, you are representing Him. Bear with people, God was long-suffering with you. When we make a mistake can we humble ourselves and say I'm sorry, because we represent God?"
- God has mercy and gives second chances to others, despite what they do or what I do.
- We want to proclaim Christ the wrong way sometimes. I cannot judge the homosexuals at work. I can love them and be that light to them.
- Our worst enemy is ourselves. We beat ourselves down. Don't beat yourself down!
Apostle Crowder rose to say, "We are called to proclaim Christ. Everybody needs Christ. Homosexuals need the Lord. They are lovable people and they are God's people. We have to learn not to have respect of persons. They are looking for a certain kind of love, and Satan has thrown them. They need our love. Your anointing will destroy the yoke in that person. So take away the spirit of hate and the spirit of pride, we were a mess at one time too. We are not loosed enough to proclaim Christ. We must have an eye and a heart to see souls. Tell them that God has a better plan for them. They are looking for trust and love."
Apostle Crowder exhorted us to always remember the following verses from Romans:
Romans 15:1-3 "We then that are strong ought to bear the infirmities of the weak, and not to please ourselves. 2 Let every one of us please his neighbor for his good to edification. 3 For even Christ pleased not himself; but, as it is written, The reproaches of them that reproached thee fell on me."
She said, "When you are in a situation, you are there to be strong. You be strong! You ought to be able to bear with their infirmities. Don't judge their infirmities, but pray. You ought to have enough love to cover their nakedness. Everything is not to please you! You want everything and everyone nice around you. Let them wear what they want right now, it is not to please you. We have too much respect of persons. Please your neighbor instead, help somebody to lift up Jesus. Real holiness is to endure people and not with your nose turned up in the air. Christ did not please Himself. We are overly religious. 'For even Christ pleased not himself; but, as it is written, The reproaches of them that reproached thee fell on me' Jesus is saying, 'The sins that they had fell on Me.' "
She continued, "A saint is called to proclaim Christ. The person kicking the can out on the street, may be calling out to the Lord, but you crossed the street to avoid them. Watch your lives, how we react. I'm in love with God's people. We have to really love ye one another and not just in here. Watch how you speak to everybody."
Eldress Sorrell closed out the Sunday School lesson by giving us two verses concerning Saul, the chosen one (Paul), which puts it all into perspective for us who are also chosen:
1 Timothy 1:13 "Who was before a blasphemer, and a persecutor, and injurious: but I obtained mercy, because I did it ignorantly in unbelief."
1 Corinthians 6:11 "And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God."
Eldress Pam stepped out in praise and then preached a Word, saying, "We've been called and chosen, we have a right to celebrate. The devil is trying to take us out, and some of us are letting him. God requires a praise. Saul thought he was right when he was persecuting the saints. Some of us think we are right, but we are out of sync with the Holy Ghost. When we come to Christ we get a new vision. In the beginning God said something (see Genesis 1). We need to say something. Why are you quiet? It is because you are believing the wrong thing and you are trusting in yourself. Repentance is a sign. Ask God to change you. I'm loud, you may not be as loud as me, but you must use your voice. In here you can let loose. I just run it off (the weight, or the devil sitting on you)"
She continued, "T. V. is designed to make you think like the world, it gets you out of the Word. It is not good. The system is designed to make you die, genocide. If you don't know how to pray, you may never get healed. Come up to the call. I heard, 'surrender' this morning as Minister Sorrell was walking the floor. Sometimes we keep ourselves in a low place, but you have to push. God can use you on your job, but you don't know this yet because you are not delivered. We talked about homosexuals, but we have sin too. Sin is sin, lying is a good one. We have not yet arrived. We didn't say, 'Yes Lord,' so we caused our own pain and then we go through, but God uses this to make you. Remember the greatest of these is love? "And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity" 1 Corinthians 6:11. Say, 'I need to come up, help me Jesus.' "
Eldress Pam voiced, "You know the Word but you cannot do it. That is the place where you then pray, but don't condemn yourself. We grow daily. We come to an understanding of who God is daily. For power to obey God, come to the table and eat. Sit with Him at a special time daily to know the voice of God. God was teaching me through troubling experiences with my husband. Love the Lord. Sometimes you are peculiar to your brother or sister, because they are not there yet. God trains us in the way we should go. In all your getting, get an understanding. Let Him wash you. You cannot change what you don't know. Sometimes we know it and drown it out! He is telling you, 'Come up, I love you and won't harm you.' Keep peace in your heart. Love and kindness will draw the souls, not self-righteousness that makes you unapproachable. What is happening in the world right now is written in the Book."
Co Pastor McCarty preached a power packed dynamite Word on making a "Noise." As he was speaking, radiant and radical praise burst forth throughout the whole house. I'm sorry but at this point I was running the floor so I did not write down exactly what he said. But in general he pointed out that one can have an extremely loud voice and another can say it softer, but they both have the same impact because the Holy Ghost magnifies the voice.
